Analyst – Open-Source Database Administrator

Migrate Client’s databases to the latest open-source PostgreSQL and MySQL

Client’s critical operational application databases run on proprietary databases like Oracle and SQL Server, the candidate will be the single point of contact to evaluate, plan and implement migrations in target to reduce the total cost of ownership and reduce the footprint of proprietary databases

Project IDs:

BT PMO-nnnn: Database Migration to Open Source

Migration of on-premise databases to the latest release of PostgreSQL & MySQL with High Availability, Security, and Disaster Recovery architectured within the systems

BT PMO-0335: Database Encryption

A feature included with the Enterprise databases that client is licensed to use. It will encrypt the database at rest i.e. when it is on storage or backup devices. No Application change is required.

Data protection will be enabled so in case data is taken from Production to other environments an encryption-decryption Certificate will be required.

BT PMO-0336: Performance Enhancements

Improve Applications database performance. Speaking with service owners and vendors to implement architecture, design & query changes to enhance performance and utilize features like Auto Tuning & archive data compression

Business as Usual

There are daily maintenance and BAU in addition to requests from the business for release to application supports like performance troubleshooting or system upgrades

Degree level qualification

Computer Science B.Sc or Computer Engineering

Professional Qualifications/Regulatory Requirements

· Professional Certification preferred

· PostgreSQL Professional Certification

· EDB Professional Certification

· OCP: Oracle Certified Professional MySQL

· RHCE: RedHat Certified Engineer or RHCSA

Oracle & SQL Server migrations to PostgreSQL & MySQL and improvement in stability and performance

All migrations should follow the CAB process going with all available PreProd and Production

Database Encryptionis a Security requirement to enable transparent database encryption without any changes to the dependent Applications and ensure all the systems working as before enabling the feature

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: AED12,000.00 – AED18,000.00 per month
