The First Group offers a 12-month internship opportunity in its Hospitality Asset Management Department to university students and recent graduates with a background in Business Administration, Finance, or Hospitality Management. We are seeking students or recent graduates who have an exceptional academic record and a strong interest in the hospitality sector and asset management.
- Continuous monitoring of rival operating performance using existing and custom-developed techniques.
- Active approach to performance improvement: superior revenue management strategy to improve relative market positioning, cash flow optimization (payroll, outsourcing opportunities, productivity, fixed/variable cost studies, and flowthrough analysis).
- Implementation of operational measures: break-even analysis, cost-ratio analysis, return on investment analysis, and other key performance indicators.
- Revenue management, price yielding, contract optimization and negotiation, channel mix optimization, comp-set performance (STR), public pricing (OTA insight), room categorization and pricing, and people productivity are the top line metrics.
- Cost: staff and payroll, costs, outsourcing, COGS analysis, outsourced service reduction, energy efficiency with and without
- CAPEX, OPEX analysis, management of property expenses such as insurance, property tax, and audits, and facilities management.
- Qualitative analysis: managing one’s online reputation
- Market analysis and comparison to comparables.
Desired Competence & Expertise
- A bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration, business management, or a closely related discipline from a four-year college or university is essential, as is equivalent experience.
- Candidates with an MBA are desired.
