Job Description

Lead the global in-flight catering operations, supply chain and galley load planning activities to ensure the cost effective, timely and efficient support of delivering a world class catering product and service. Proactively analyse the changing needs of the business to create, implement and manage long term catering operational and supply chain initiatives.

Job Outline:

– Develop Catering operational capabilities by planning and implementing strategy to achieve operational excellence for sustained success, and meeting agreed departmental objectives within agreed budgets and timescales.

– Manage and reduce operational cost by effective planning and execution of these plans, investigating and developing business opportunities and processes, implementing industry best practices to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of the operation, deliver year on year savings and increase financial contribution.

– Manage and build relationships with key business partners, internally and externally to effectively integrate resources that can add or impact operational performance.

– Develop and enhance in-flight Catering items by researching on equipment and other industry developments, and working closely with Regional Catering Management, Product & Service Development, P&L and logistics, to ensure the standards of the products remain competitive within the airline industry.

– Manage and develop staff through the Performance Management programme to ensure sectional/departmental objectives are met along with individual development needs.

– Optimise the use of allocated aircraft stowage locations and related processes, by directing guiding and managing the GLP team to ensure optimum and ergonomic use of available space, enable smooth and efficient loading/offloading by caterers, and delivery of product by cabin crew to on-board customers.

– Evaluate catering contractor’s technical and operational capabilities at new and current destinations, by conducting site visits to ensure appropriate caterer selection that will enable facilitate consistent delivery of the desired product quality and standard of service.

– Manage supplier relationships and performances by implementing supplier quality management programs to qualitatively and quantitatively track and drive continuous improvements to processes and product.

– Create internal systems and business processes (e.g. Supply Chain Operations Planning) to balance supply and demand (material stocks and meal uplift). Manage New Product Introductions by planning with all stakeholders and executing to plan to ensure agreed target are met and stock obsolescence kept to a minimum.

– Implement KPI’s /tools to facilitate monitoring and maximizing the performance and contribution of the catering supply chain and ensure effective and efficient customer service to catering contractors

Qualifications & Experience

In-Flight Service.In-flight Catering : 10+ Years

Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) :

Bachelor?s degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, business administration or similar field.

Experience in an airline catering operations and global supply chain environment of which at least 5 years should have been in a managerial role. Knowledge/skills:

– Must have extensive knowledge and skills of Operations and Global Supply Chain Management.

– Ability to deliver results through efficient contract management of suppliers/contractors spread across the globe.

– Must have excellent team-building and project management skills, coupled with the ability to drive and implement change.

– Must be able to provide direction to the team in alignment with the departmental objectives.
