Our customers’ outcomes are achieved by the successful delivery, adoption, and consumption of a VMware solution. PS Pre-Sales plays a critical role in ensuring we can deliver these customer outcomes by ensuring the overall solution we propose is correctly scoped to meet the customer’s business objectives. When we are successful, our PS Pre-Sales team work closely with the customer from early in the sales cycle to understand their needs and demonstrating thought-leadership to develop a services proposal that is tightly aligned with VMware’s technologies that will deliver customer value, meeting their desired outcomes.

Our PS Pre-Sales organisation routinely engages with C-level, VP and Director level executives in our customers and at VMware, providing perspective and guidance on long-term business/technology strategy, transformation, investments, and innovation. To do this, they will draw upon the depth and breadth of their technical and business management knowledge and convey complex ideas simply and effectively at all levels. In addition to pre-sales, sales and scope development expertise, our Client Solution Architects possess in-depth knowledge of VMware technology and adjacent Data Centre technologies and industry trends!

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • You will report directly to our VP Professional Services EMEA and will be responsible for the EMEA wide team that scope our services solutions for our EMEA customers. You will leverage your experience and passion in Services Pre-Sales to lead a high-performing team of Client Solution Architects to define innovative solutions that deliver business outcomes fand value or our customers during their transformational journey with VMWare

  • Your expertise in navigating a large-scale transformation will allow you to enable the team to effectively scope and position SaaS based solutions and ‘Day 2’ services

  • Your strong technical and strategic background will assist you in developing and building your team who have a trusted advisor role with their customers. A key part of the role will be team development and coaching/mentoring of managers and team members for their professional growth

  • You will bring a strategic focus and best practices to support sustainable growth, influencing and aligning resources to support your team and your business to achieve greater outcomes

  • You will successfully collaborate with PS sales, core sales, core pre-sales and our Partners to define and execute on a strategy to grow product and services ARR and to drive adoption and consumption of VMware technologies resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction and retention

  • You will be developing and supporting a customer centric team culture of execution, purpose, innovative thinking, diversity & inclusivity.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Enhancing and optimizing the EMEA PS Pre-Sales organisation using your expertise in leading and developing similar technical specialist team in other large organisations

  • Collaborating with Regional and Global PS Sales leaders to ensure alignment of resources against the most important customer opportunities

  • Your decisive and inclusive leadership style will allow you to further develop a world-class Pre-Sales Client Solution Architecture team developing and retaining the existing top talent and by hiring the best from the industry

  • Leading the PS Pre-Sales team to ensure they are equipped to deliver their responsibilities; operate as a single team; and are consistently excellent in all they do

  • Building awareness and familiarity with Services and Product sellers and with Product Pre-Sales leadership

  • Ensuring that the team consistently receive the right enablement to stay on top of the most important VMware technologies and solutions for our customers

  • As an expert communicator, you will liaise with other Pre-Sales leaders in other to ensure a standardised approach worldwide, building credibility and strong relationships with key stakeholders

  • You will provide feedback to Professional Services Engineering regarding current service offerings along with generating new ideas for new offerings based on your knowledge from discussions with your team and our customers

  • You will be involved in industry events such as VMware Explore that help promote awareness of VMware’s services

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager for this role is David Percy, VP Professional Services EMEA. David has recently taken on this role but is a 12-year veteran at VMware with broad experience across the company. The EMEA PS team is focused on outcomes, not just activity, with clear and consistent direction towards our north star. It is critical the entire team are aligned to our common purpose and our EPIC2 values and that we work together to achieve our goals. We are fast-paced, ambitious and successful. Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office. Preferred locations are UK, Germany, France, or Dubai.
